Amiel is a student in the Master of City Planning program at UC Berkeley focusing on Housing, Community, and Economic Development. His research interest focuses on gentrification, displacement, and community development. Prior to attending Berkeley, he worked on community outreach and engagement for San Francisco’s affordable housing and foreclosure prevention programs. Recently, Amiel worked as a researcher for the Urban Displacement Project under the Strong, Prosperous, And Resilient Communities Challenge (SPARCC) Project. He is currently interning for the San Francisco Planning Department, working on their Community Stabilization Strategy and Housing Affordability Strategy. Amiel was born in Manila and raised in the diaspora.
