Hannah (they/them; she/her) is a research analyst at the Urban Displacement Project. They graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Data Science and a minor in Computer Science. Before transferring to Berkeley, Hannah interned with the City of Richmond’s Engineering & Capital Improvements department and worked as a library assistant with the Contra Costa County Library while studying mathematics at Contra Costa College. They are interested in using data science to explore research questions involving housing, displacement, and the economic impact of COVID-19. Hannah has worked with UDP as a student researcher to generate the gentrification and displacement maps for Vancouver and Toronto as well as mapping the vulnerability of BIPOC-owned businesses in the Bay Area in the wake of COVID-19.
The project aims to understand the nature of gentrification, and displacement, and exclusion in American cities. It focuses on creating tools to help communities identify the pressures surrounding them and take more effective action.
