Rachel is a junior Urban Studies major at UC Berkeley also pursuing minors in Spanish and Environmental Economics and Policy. During Summer 2020, she worked remotely for the City of San Francisco Planning Department’s Archeology Team as their Cultural Resources Training Materials Intern. Currently, Rachel is working on an independent research project on COVID-19, disability and emergency and disaster planning with the support of Professor Karen Chapple and a generous award grant from the CED Diversity Platforms Initiative. In her free time, Rachel loves to run, do yoga, and cook.
The project aims to understand the nature of gentrification, and displacement, and exclusion in American cities. It focuses on creating tools to help communities identify the pressures surrounding them and take more effective action.
