Shazia is a Master of Public Health and Master of City Planning student at UC Berkeley. She hopes to advance community-driven research and policy, focusing on the intersections between the environment, social policy, and health. Prior to graduate school, Shazia supported environmental justice education and policy advocacy campaigns as the Membership & Communication Coordinator at Physicians for Social Responsibility-Los Angeles. She holds a BA in Communication from UC San Diego.
The project aims to understand the nature of gentrification, and displacement, and exclusion in American cities. It focuses on creating tools to help communities identify the pressures surrounding them and take more effective action.
