Svea Joaquino is a Masters in Public Health Student at UC Berkeley studying epidemiology and biostatistics. Philippine-born and NorCal bred, she enjoys exploring her Filipino roots and was excited for the opportunity to study urban displacement in Manila. She is an aspiring data scientist and hopes to use her quantitative skills to apply to studies in Filipino health and chronic diseases.
The project aims to understand the nature of gentrification, and displacement, and exclusion in American cities. It focuses on creating tools to help communities identify the pressures surrounding them and take more effective action.
